Clare Cooper | director & co-founder
Clare has an extensive career in arts management which started with the British Council in 1981. From 1991 to 2003 she specialised in development with a portfolio of diverse clients the largest of which was Laban where she led the development of their award winning Hertzog & de Meuron building. In 1999 she moved to set up the capital campaign for Hampstead Theatre’s new building.
In 2001, she joined Arts & Business first taking the role of Director of Development and then becoming their first Director of Policy & Communications. She left A&B in 2005 to set up the third phase of MMM. She has served as a Trustee on the Boards of a number of arts organisations and higher education institutions over the last fifteen years but is now focusing her volunteering in broader community settings.
Clare is a co-founder MMM and is leading MMM’s current phase of work. She was born and brought up in East Africa and currently lives and works part of the time in Scotland and part of the time in London.
Roanne Dods | director & co-founder
Roanne was Director of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation from 1998-2008. She qualified as a lawyer and in 1997 left the legal profession to undertake an MA in Dance Studies at Laban Centre London. At the Laban Centre she was part of the team that successfully secured Lottery funding for the new Laban Centre’s award winning building in Deptford.
At the Jerwood Charitable Foundation she has overseen the significant expansion of Jerwood activities across all artforms. In 2004, Jerwood was presented with an Angel Award by the International Society for the Performing Arts for ‘innovative and spectacular work across the artistic spectrum’ by Sir John Tusa. She is founding director of Mission Models Money (with Clare Cooper), The Work Room (for independent choreographers in Glasgow), IC: Innovative Craft, and Rose Orange, and on the boards of Scottish Ballet, Sistema Scotland and Jerwood Space. She is a Fuel Catalyst and member of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival Advisory Board.
Roanne is leading MMM’s People Theme work strand. She was born in Lima, Peru and lived there for 10 years before moving to Milan. She currently lives in Glasgow with her son and works in London.
David Hall | director
David Hall is Chief Executive of the Foyle Foundation. He holds a B.A. Hons. In Russian and Soviet Studies and an MBA. He worked for nine years in project management, general management and marketing, including international assignments un Saudi Arabia and Sweden before undertaking his MBA. He then entered the cultural sector first as Deputy Director of Business in the Arts, a national programme of ABSA (now Arts and Business). He later became Head of Consulting at ABSA.
Prior to becoming the Foyle Foundation’s Chief Executive, he was lead Consultant at the international consultancy AEA Managements Consultant. He specialised in strategic development, business planning and capital project development within the arts and heritage sectors. He also assessed major capital projects for Arts Council England, the Scottish Arts Council and Heritage Lottery Fund. He is a member of the Development Council and Strategy and Planning Working Party of the National Theatre and was a member of MMM’s Action group in it’s third phase.
Rohan Gunatillake | director
Rohan joined MMM as Director in 2008 following his secondment to MMM from Accenture during 2006/07. At Accenture Rohan specialised in public and third sector business consulting with his clients including HMRC, the Ministry of Justice and the Big Lottery Fund. After leaving Accenture Rohan led the Web Connect strand at NESTA which explores the role the web can play in disruptive innovation where his projects included Social Innovation Camp, Amplified City Leicester, the Web Science Research Institute and Reboot Britain. He now works on a freelance basis and is currently leading the Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab project.
Rohan has a particular interest in mission-led organisations and has acted as an informal strategy advisor for a number of social enterprises and ethical businesses and in 2006/07 he ran an online community exploring urban wellbeing. He has a passion for the live experience especially in the form of interactive performing arts and is currently working on a project exploring the application of meditation to 21st century culture.
